Material Handling System

Material Handling is the movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal. The focus is on the methods, mechanical equipment, systems and related controls used to achieve these functions. The material handling industry manufactures and distributes the equipment and services required to implement material handling systems. Material handling systems range from simple pallet rack and shelving projects, to complex conveyor belt and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS). Material handling can also consist of sorting and picking, as well as automatic guided vehicles. - From Wikipedia

Essential Of Good Material Handling System:
- Efficient and safe movement of materials to the desired place.
- Timely movement of the materials when needed.
- Supply of materials at the desired rate.
- Storing of materials utilizing minimum space.
- Lowest cost solution to the materials handling activities.

Advantages Of Material Handling System:
- Improve efficiency of a production system by ensuring the right quantity of materials delivered at the right place at the right time most economically.
- Cut down indirect labor cost.
- Reduce damage of materials during storage and movement.
- Maximize space utilization by proper storage of materials and thereby reduce storage and handling cost.
- Minimize accident during materials handling.
- Reduce overall cost by improving materials handling.
- Improve customer services by supplying materials in a manner convenient for handlings.
- Increase efficiency and saleability of plant and equipment with integral materials handling features.

Disadvantages Of Material Handling System:
- Additional capital cost involved in any materials handling system.
- Once a materials handling system get implemented, flexibility for further changes gets greatly reduced.
- With an integrated materials handling system installed, failure/stoppage in any portion of it leads to increased downtime of the production system.
- Materials handling system needs maintenance, hence any addition to materials handling means additional maintenance facilities and costs.

2013 Satria Neo R3

This newly revised Satria Neo R3 was officially launched by Proton’s Executive Chairman – Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khamil Jamil at the Proton Centre of Excellence in a ceremony also attended by famous names in local and international rally motorsports such as Karamjit Singh, Kenneth Koh, Syafiq Ali and James Veerapan.

“The Satria Neo is one of Proton’s most popular and iconic models. It has achieved numerous outstanding successes in the arena of motorsports. Its fantastic winning records are testament of its capability and its race track qualities are undeniable. With the introduction of the Satria Neo R3 today, we are offering to our customers, a tried and tested model that now comes fully equipped and with the added R3 kit and accessories for a fresher and clearly more distinctive sporty style. R3, also known as Race, Rally, Research, is PROTON’s motorsports performance arm, very much similar to those used by other OEM’s,” said Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khamil.

The pair of front seats of the Satria Neo R3 now come with better seat support. The interior of the car now comes with some Alcantara finishing and 2-din headunit with satellite navigation system. The car is fitted standard with a unique 16-inch R3 design alloy wheels wrapped with Continental MC5 195/50 R16 tyres.

The Satria Neo R3 come with the same 1.6-liter CPS engine that outputs 125hp @ 6,500rpm with max torque of 150Nm @ 4,500rpm. Based on the technical specification, the acceleration from 0-100km/h for the manual variant takes 10.5 seconds, while the auto takes 12.9 seconds. Top speed is 190km/h for manual and 185km/h for auto. The weight of the Satria Neo R3 is 1,212kg for manual and 1,227kg for auto. The figures may not be convincing for some of you here. However, handling is the main picture for this car.

The new Satria Neo R3 is available in 3 colours – Fire Red, GTi Silver and Tranquility Black.

The new Satria Neo R3 comes in 2 variant; the Executive Line AUTO and Executive Line MANUAL priced at RM64,250.00 and RM61,250.00 on-the-road in Peninsular Malaysia. The new Satria Neo R3 comes with 3 years or 100,000km warranty. It is officially open for booking and customers can make their order with a booking fee of only RM300.00.

Conveyor Chain

Hi, today I will share with you what is conveyor chain. Why conveyor chain? What is so special with conveyor chain? Easy answer..because my job relate with this things :) So, what can I tell u about conveyor chain? Have you see this picture?

That is a conveyor chain. A conveyor chain is chain that has been designed specifically for chain conveyor systems. It consists of a series of journal bearings that are held together by constraining link plates. Each bearing consists of a pin and a bush on which the chain roller revolves.

Construction of Conveyor Chain:

Rollers
Free to rotate over the bushings. When chain engages with sprocket, roller work as bearing   and serve to reduce shock and wear. When chain is running on rails or wear strips, rollers reduce running friction on the chain.

Bushings
To obtain high wear resistance then press-fitted to the roller link plates, providing a bearing surface for pin rotation.

Link Plates
The component parts receiving chain tension. The holes for press-fitted pins or bushing are accurately punched to maintain uniform pitch.

Pins
Made to exact specifications for high strength, sturdiness and wear resistance, then rigidity press-fitted to the link plates. Pins resist shearing force through chain tension and rotate in the bushing, providing bearing surfaces when the chain articulates over sprockets.
Attachment – Provide when necessary for fixing attachments to the chain.

Type of Chain:

Hollow bearing pin chain
Hollow bearing pin chain allows attachments to be bolted through the hollow bearing pins. Attachments may be tightly fixed or held in a 'free' manner.

Solid bearing pin chain
Solid bearing pin chain has the same dimensions as hollow bearing pin chain but is more robust and thus suitable for more arduous conveyor applications.

Deep link chain
Deep link chain has deeper side plates than the normal chain plates and so provides a continuous carrying edge above the roller periphery. Deep link chain comes in solid and hollow bearing pin varieties.

Drop forged chain
Drop forged chain (also known as en-masse conveyor chain or scraper chain) is already fitted with attachments that have been welded directly onto the chain links.

Type of Roller:

R Roller
+Most basic, versatile roller types.
+Outside diameter of roller is larger than height of the link plate.
+Large allowable load and low frictional resistance.
+Suitable for carrying large and heavy material.
F Roller
+There is a flange on the roller serve to retain the chain on the rails.
+Perfect for rough usage condition and regular slat conveyance.
+Suitable for carrying large and heavy material.
S, M and N Roller
+S Roller – Outside diameter of roller is smaller than height of the link plate.
+M Roller – Outside diameter of roller is slightly larger than S roller.
+N Roller – Outside diameter same as M roller but pin diameter is larger, increasing its strength.
+Effective in alleviating the shock and wear the chain would normally suffer during sprocket engagement.

Basic Dimension:

P - Pitch
R - Roller Diameter
E - Roller Contact Width
H - Height of Link Plate
T - Thickness of Link Plate
D - Diameter of Pin
L - Length of Pin
